Obligatory Summer Swimsuit Pic - 2013 Remake

I've wanted to remake this picture forever and I finally found an excuse to.

My old crappy phone had no way of getting pictures other than to take photos, so for my phone backgrounds I would just snap photos of the computer screen with my latest artwork.  One day my phone ran out of memory and I was too nostalgic to delete anything (due to lack of ability to transfer photos off my phone).  So since 2007 I had "Obligatory Summer Swimsuit Pic" as my phone background.  Mollfie recently gave me a new phone as a present, so, high time I got a new background for when I move over onto it.  Except I'm so attached to the idea of OSSP being my background, the time was now to finally remake it.

So I made this to be a phone background.  Uhh... kind of overkill I guess.

To go through the girls one by one (in the order I drew them) regarding the changes I made:

Alice was the most important to me that I keep the pose exactly the same as she's kind of the main character of Phantasm Dyad and thus would be the beacon of "this is a remake of the original" above anyone else.  Like all the characters, I redesigned her swimsuit to something more in keeping to how I developed her personality and fashion taste over the years.  I've drawn her in this blue bikini design far more often than her purple one in the original (which has only appeared once since as a background cameo in Alice's room in Episode 6).  Alice's modesty is not so high she'd be uncomfortable in a bikini, but it's just high enough that she feels uncomfortable taking off shorts unless she was swimming or sunbathing.  I also removed the tied up bikini style because Alice would be much too paranoid to wear something that could come undone like that.

Venus my how you've filled out.  The original picture was drawn not long at all after Venus' conception.  Not long after I decided I didn't like that she had almost exactly the same body shape as Alice, and I've been gradually filling her out over the years as I gained more confidence in drawing curvy proportions.  I decided to give the tied up towel look to Chrysan here in order to show off as much of Venus' tattoos as possible.  It's funny how back in the day, the original version of this pic was drawn when I had just decided that Venus was gay and had a lil' bit of a thing for Alice.  At the time I was like "I bet no-one will guess why she's looking all shyly at Alice" but I dunno, has it always been obvious?  I thought I was being really sneaky at the time because I hadn't ever said outright at the time I made it.  I added her playing with her twisty tie bikini here as an extra bit of flirtiness lol.

Chrysan's original pose was really lazy and specifically done because I didn't feel like drawing hands.  I also didn't really know how to draw flat-chestedness back then.  "Small boobs are like... regular boobs but smaller right" suggests Chrysan's apparent cleavage.  I gave her the most modest outfit here since she is meant to be a total kid in personality.  Her original getup didn't suit her at all, but again, this was a case where I hadn't filled out her personality yet.  She also used to be physically taller as a particular part of her design.  This is no longer the case for her or Venus which is kinda funny because putting everyone in the same locations means they slope downwards in height in this new version lol.

Emily also had her pose altered from the original to make it a bit more dynamic.  She originally had a one-piece because (not that we've seen it) she has quite a sensible and serious personality, but again, since developing her character, she would show off a bit and cares about fashion, but for spoiling reasons it's important that she has unique clothing, hence wacky crisscrossy swimsuit and inexplicable swimwear transparent thighhighs.  I also had to get the one-piece off her since I added her navel piercing a couple years back, what's the point if I don't get to show it off once in a while.
