Ratties, weddings, Laytons, Cave Stories, internets, desks, point commissions.
Just a small update to get my christmas journal header off the main page really lol.
Rather sadly, we lost another Rattie a week or so ago. I actually never mentioned in my dA journal looking through it (darn micro-blogging sites making me neglect it), but we also lost our rattie Storm a few months back too. She had lumps for ages, and while we did get the first one removed in surgery, they came back so fast we realised it would just be unnecessary stress on her to keep doing it. Our other rattie Rain also had lumps, yet somehow survived way longer and died way more painlessly (judging by her behaviour) so maybe surgery was a bad idea anyway. RIP to both Storm and Rain. This does leave just one rattie, Scout, who's been getting lots of treats and attention to keep her entertained. She certainly seems to be enjoying getting free reign to explore the entire room due to us not having multiple rats to keep track off when it's time to be let out to play. Don't hate me for not making a personal journal for you like previous pets, Storm and Rain, we loved you both. 8C
Other than that, new year has been nice enough so far. Molly and I have been getting more stuff moving towards the wedding. Venue is pretty much all sorted, just need to finalise food and stuff, invites are nearly ready to go. Best part is the cake though, we found like THE nicest lady who has ridiculously affordable prices and does really cute designs (which goes rather nicely with our theme), and she's making us a few matching vegan cupcakes to go with it too for anyone who can't have eggs/dairy.
Going away for a few days to belatedly visit my Mum and sis back in Bath at the weekend so that'll be neat and stuff.
I finished Layton 4, which I enjoyed mostly. Spoilers-ish! I did think the ending was really out of nowhere though. All of the twists and explanations were REALLY out there and unbelievable, even for the Layton series. Damn though, great soundtrack as usual. Addicted to the main theme like I am every time I hear a new one. I'll hopefully finally pick up number 5 soon. Also darnit will someone tell Layton's voice actor to stop using americanisms. 8C He's such a good voice but it all falls apart when he says Data as "Dah-tah" instead of the english pronounciation of "Day-tah".
Other than that just got Cave Story 3D. I was seeing if it was still ridiculously hard to find, and it's only got more ridiculous. Only Amazon had it, German import, for £80! I went on the German Amazon (since I'd be getting a German copy anyway the other way) and they had it for a total budget price of £20. I decided to snap it up there and then lest it get rarer. As expected it autodetected my English language on 3DS so works totally fine. Enjoying it so far but disappointed with how basic the animation is. The game looks fantastic but they kept the "suddenly change directions" and "pop in and out of doors with no animation" aspects of the old sprite graphics. It just looks off in three-dimensions, especially when the perspective of the camera makes it so they pop out of existence when they aren't even in front of a door. There seems to literally be special effects missing too. Whenever a character originally teleported in (such as Misery), and it happened by them sort of "scanning downwards" like an image loading on the internet, on 3D they literally just play the sound effect and then... pop they're there. So weird. No facial expressions or complex animations on characters either. If they didn't animate in the original spritework they don't animate here, regardless of how dramatic the scene is meant to be. Bleh. Great fun though, and the envioronments are seriously gorgeous so... yeah.
Hopefully getting fibre-optic internet tomorrow so that'll be fun. I also went to Staples today and totally fell in love with a desk and chair there which are both on offer right now. I have some cash so going for it. I've been sitting on the floor with my comp for over a year now and it's murdered my back, and it was a sort of semi-new years resolution of mine that I should try and get my desk sorted by the end of January. So... fate has smiled on me I guess.
OH. Finally you guys see that ridiculous commission thing devART are doing where people can buy commissions with dA points and dA take like 20% of the profit? What a load of shit. But I set it up anyway in case there are any people out there who wanted to commission me but literally cannot use PayPal. If such a person exists might as well give them the option and maybe get a commission right? D= My prices are higher on the points system though to make up for that 20% though so, it's still better to do it normal-like. IF ANYONE WANTS TO *SOB*.
Welp... that's enough of an update I think. So yeah, stuff!
